Designed to assist First Nations’ families struggling with high energy and remote cost of living expenses, the project completed the first of 30 household solar installations in August 2026 while developing a local workforce of young trainees equipped with renewable-ready trade skills, with families now benefiting from access to lower cost, renewable energy for the first time.

Grown out of a desire by Iwupataka Elders to assist local families to live healthier lives on their own Country, this project demonstrates how simple solutions like access to affordable, clean energy can give communities more control of their energy future, and support thriving local employment and enterprise opportunities.

Project Partners

Original Power is a First Nations’ not-for-profit renewable energy developer working in partnership with communities across the Northern Territory to overcome the barriers excluding our mob from fair access to affordable, clean energy. 

We invest in the capabilities of our mob through long-term partnerships to co-design, develop and deliver renewable energy projects that can ensure First Nations’ communities can participate in, benefit from, and lead the transition to clean energy across Australia.
