WA Clean Energy Projects and Engagement Lead - Identified Role

The Position

The WA Clean Energy Projects and Engagement Lead reports to the Co-Director of Clean Energy Communities and will work closely with the Clean Energy and First Nations Clean Energy Network teams
(specifically WA and regional teams) and other key stakeholders (internal and external) to shape engagement strategies, and provide renewable energy project development support, and provide advice
in relation to program and policy development support to the community sector, industry and government stakeholders across the Pilbara and Kimberley region of WA.

This role will manage and develop new partnerships with key stakeholders in community, government and other organisations for the purposes of communication, advocacy and engagement activities in
support of Original Power and the First Nations Clean Energy Network projects and activities. Any advocacy activity should be done with direction and support from Co-Director, Clean Energy
Communities and Director, Policy and Engagement.

A key component of the role will include managing relationships with Kimberley and Pilbara region communities and organisations to better understand their specific clean energy access and
development ambitions. You will also provide accurate and timely information and materials to community groups on the risks and opportunities arising from clean energy infrastructure, and relevant
program and policy initiatives in Western Australia.

This role will support communities to build and access knowledge, capability and capacity to access clean energy solutions and to make decisions about clean energy policy, supply chains and infrastructure
developments.

The position involves:

  • Playing a crucial role in supporting First Nations communities and organisations in the planning, development and implementation of clean energy projects in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions
    of WA
  • Collaboration with First Nations communities, government agencies and other stakeholders to advance First Nations-led outcomes and clean energy initiatives
  • Growing and maintaining stakeholder relationships will be key, as will strong project management to ensure that First Nations communities are advised and informed about policy,
    program and funding opportunities, clean energy opportunities and potential risks and impacts of clean energy infrastructure
  • The position will integrate the tasks of community organising, information sharing, capacity development and informing and influencing policy and program development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, expand and maintain relationships with Kimberley and Pilbara community members, organisations and leaders.
  • Assisting to deliver clean energy capacity and capability training, workshops and gatherings with community members in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions.
  • Provide information and produce materials for community members and organisations on risks and opportunities arising from clean energy infrastructure.
  • Work with experts and support the delivery of Original Power’s clean energy projects.
  • Contribute to our stakeholder database for the clean energy team (eg. key contacts in government and other organisations) in Western Australia for the purposes of communication,
    advocacy and engagement activities
  • Work with the WA Policy and Advocacy Lead to monitor relevant WA policy, program and clean energy sector developments and keep internal teams up to date
  • Assisting to deliver clean energy capacity and capability training to community members
  • Project development support to ensure projects are delivered in a timely, efficient and impactful manner.
  • Media work as required for Original Power’s Kimberley and Pilbara region clean energy work
  • Attend conferences and meetings.
